Learning to think like a scientist or engineer means doing what scientists and engineers do. Students will engage in inquiry-guided, collaborative learning with a focus on problem-solving. The use of technology will be widely emphasized. Hands-on, projectbased education will enhance creativity and insight.

While fulfilling the requirements for their high school diplomas, students can also earn college credit. The supportive environment allows students to become part of the university community through face-to-face mentoring, advising, teaching and counseling.

Quote from Chancellor James H. Woodward:
"Science, technology, engineering and mathematics have never been more important than they are in the 21 st century. Acquiring the skills leading to a career in the sciences can guide students on many different paths to solving the world's problems - to finding a cure for cancer or creating the technology that will help keep our air safe to breathe and our water safe to drink. The journey starts here."
